| Drills/times: 40 time: 4.77 Best Pro Agility: 4.12 300 Yd Shuttle: 57.0 Squat: 500+ Turk Assessment: Strengths After watching practice it became obvious that he plays with tenacity. I believe his main strengths are his unusual quickness for a big dude and lower body strength. I mean this dude weighed in at 266, squatted 500 easy, and only had to run one 40 because he ran the freakn thing at 4.77, just a bit slower than Jason Wright. I mean C'mon! Although he is still learning his new position, he consistently beats second team OL in one on one pass rush drills. Lately, he has beaten first teamers in drills from time to time. Weaknesses: Inexperience and upper body strength. Needs to gain consistency in beating first team OL during pass rush drills. Mark has 3 playing years left, so the added experience along with additional upper body strength will come on its own provided he flavors his talent with a dogged & determined work ethic. Around Evanston this usually means staying in Evanston during the summer. As one Turk source said, "Koehn is considered to be making excellent growth as a DE...lets see if he remains in Evanston this Summer and continues with the controlled weight and conditioning program as he ahs gotten very strong" Projection: Howard and Mims will probably be the starters unless Mims is moved inside. This gives the hard working Koehn presumably a 'turn key' opportunity to get plenty of minutes this year as a sophmore, probably the 3rd rated DE on the team behind only Mims and Howard. With continued hard work, Turk projects him as a starting DE for his last 2 years. Personal: Mark played on one of the best Intramural[?] basketball teams at NU. Together with TJ, Sam, Frayne, Dylan and a few non-football players, they ended up one game short of the championship. In High School Mark's soft hands allowed him to lead the entire state of Kansas in rebounding. As a side, he could also make a nice 265# TE, do you think? Mark enjoys diving also. Did many dives over spring break in Cozumel. Is very close to his brother who also attends NU. Also, some sources emailed Turk and said that Mark is one of the coolest, friendliest dudes on the team. As Turk would say, he is the kind of kid who helps little old ladies across the street. Sources: Turk thanks the many 'Top sources' who helped supply information for this Turk profile report. Da Turk would like to do more of these profiles since the fans get pumped up on darn near anything positively written about one of their Cats. |
