QB: Bazmanien: Looked absolutely solid. Best QB in Big10, no doubt about it. CJ: not his best day. Kafka: looked absolutely solid for a freshman. Quick QB run, nice passes. He will definitely challenge CJ next year. Brewer: Didn’t see him play. RB Wow, Wow, Wow. My hats off to Rock for being able to recruit the best backs in the country. Roberson: Great Day, 11 carries 85 yards, 2 TD’s. Best back in the big10, no doubt about it. Sutton: Phenomenal. If he doesn’t start he still gets 10 carries a game minimum. Basically equal with Roberson. Shanks: Can really motor. Just behind some real talent that’s all. Conteh: Will redshirt since Hamlett looks great. Conteh is solid though and would start at most programs. You guys think I’m crazy but Conteh and the other 2 are the best backs I have seen while I have been an NU fan. DA, DA2, Herron were all Good backs but they don’t have the greatness of the potential of our present 3. Hamlett: Moved back to RB. Put the ball on the ground once. But great game. This kid really run. Looked good enough to preserve Conteh’s shirt. OL: BigZ: No competition for him whatsoever. Keenen: Didn’t seem to have much of a problem. Probably graded out extremely high. Thiry: Looked solid. Belding/Crum/Matthews: Matthews played a little guard also I believe. These guys are Learning. Belding will probably be the starter at Center. Tripodi: Looked ok. Should provide about the same as Ike did last year. Mattes: Played Clarke: Played a little Rucks: Hurt WR: Thompson; Needs to realize his potential a bit more. I don’t know, intensity? I was really high on this kid but he just hasn’t separated himself from mediocre to something special. Didn’t really offer himself as much of a target today however he did have a nice TD grab from a poorly thrown CJ ball. Did drop one. Had Nice block to spring either Roberson or Sutton. Fields: Played early, caught one I believe. Philmore: Looked good last year but in this scrimmage he looked tons better than last year. Ran a punt back and had tons of yards receiving. Lane: looked ok. Yarbourgh: got a lot of reps. Looked ok. Petermen: Solid play. See Tim Dwight. Most likely a redshirt. Mitchell: Looked like a heckuva walkon. Frymire: see Mitchell Herbert: Looked awesome R Ward: might end up playing but I hope he shirts. One missive on Punt return. Anthony Ward: Needs work, not his best day. FB/TE Malleo: Didn’t really see the field much. Cobb: Really nice TD catch. Mansfield: Played and offers us a quality TE. In on goal line offense. Abernathy: Dropped one I believe but caught another one and seems to be a load to take down. |
